Sweco secures its workforce identities with Nexus and ServiceNow

Sweco is Europe’s leading engineering and architecture consultancy with 17,500 architects, engineers and other specialists in its organization. Sweco chose the GO Card service for construction (ID06) from Nexus when the need around identification at construction sites was updated. The solution is an innovative and secure cloud service that enables organizations to implement an effective management solution and keep track of the unique identities of users per site as well as approvals for procurement, enrolment, and shipping.

To ensure that standardized and automated processes are used and that they receive as smooth and secure onboarding solutions as possible, Sweco decided to integrate the (ID06) GO Card cloud service with its existing ServiceNow solution.

ServiceNow is an ITSM (IT Service Management) solution that helps organizations deliver scalable services that increase productivity and create great experiences for employees. ServiceNow offers functionalities, workflows, business logic, and permission levels to fulfill multiple functionalities in one system.

For Sweco and many of our other customers, when moving to Nexus, it is mostly due to minimizing card administration and utilizing employee data that is already existing in ServiceNow. Tasks associated with handling cards can be managed by the employees themselves to reduce administrative tasks. As an example, a Sweco employee can now order or re-order a card with a few clicks directly in ServiceNow.

The integration is done in an easy and standardized way through the Nexus GO REST WebAPI.

Examples of use cases that can be implemented in ServiceNow are:

  • Creating a card order
  • Retrieve employee data from the ServiceNow Database and prefill the order form
  • Optionally upload a new employee picture (otherwise the picture is taken from ServiceNow user data)
  • Fill in additional fields dynamically created from the chosen layout
  • Approve or reject a card order
  • Send the card order to Nexus GO (after approval)
  • Retrieve status updates regarding card production from Nexus GO

Every use-case and workflow are executed in ServiceNow. The communication with Nexus GO Card is transparent, meaning the user does not need to switch to the Nexus GO web application.
