Halcom Nexus

Trust center pioneer Halcom relies on Nexus’s technology for its services

Halcom was one of the first companies in the world to enable secure access to multiple accounts at different banks with a single strong identity. The company’s trust service provider Halcom CA is now one of the most important in Slovenia and neighboring countries. “We have used Nexus’s technology right from the start to accomplish this,” says Luka Ribičič, head of Halcom CA.

Halcom CA offers qualified certificates for electronic signatures and seals, website authentication and qualified time stamping services for both legal entities and private individuals in Slovenia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. The certificate can be stored on the users server (seals and website certificates), computer or smartphone (user standard qualified digital certificate) or on a smart card, smart USB key (advanced qualified digital certificate). In accordance with the EU’s eIDAS regulation, which took effect in July 2016, Halcom CA now offers certificates stored in the cloud, called One ID. One ID enables fast, simple and safe two-factor authentication and digital signing via a smartphone on any device, browser or operating system. No other devices, driver installations, signature components or additional user names are required.

Where can we use qualified digital certificate?

“A qualified digital certificate for a legal entity enables secure access to the company’s online banking accounts and makes it possible to sign domestic and international payments on behalf of both parent and daughter companies,” says Ribičič. A qualified digital certificate for a citizen enables convenient and secure access to online banking accounts.

“Since the Halcom CA is included in European List of Trusted service providers, it’s also possible to access other secure electronic portals by using one single identity in Slovenia and abroad,” says Ribičič. Examples of such portals include FURS (Financial administration of the Republic of Slovenia), AJPES (Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Service), INTRASTAT (Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia), and ZRSZ (Employment service of Slovenia).

The Halcom trust center services are built on the Nexus Smart ID platform.

“We have been using Nexus’s technology for 20 years now, and we are very happy with both the technology and the support from Nexus. I can sincerely recommend Nexus – they have been instrumental to our success,” says Ribičič.
