Northvolt looks to Nexus to issue secure identities to employees and construction workers at its first gigafactory
Northvolt is an operator of lithium-ion battery plants intended to produce batteries for electric vehicles. The company's plants produce an eco-friendly battery that is manufactured with minimal carbon footprint and with recycling technology without compromising important ecosystems. This enables the auto industry to replace fossil fuels with electricity in an efficient manner. Northvolt has now raised more than $6.5 billion in equity and debt to enable an expansion plan leading up to and beyond 150 GWh of deployed annual production capacity in Europe by 2030.
Nexus will, through our partner Atea, provide Northvolt with a flexible and secure service to manage corporate badges for its employees. Nexus GO Cards ensures access to a smooth and easy-to-use online portal and integrates into existing systems. As a requirement, Northvolt needed a solution that would minimize card administration tasks and make ordering, tracking, and reporting easy. The GO Cards service also enables Northvolt to issue cards with an extremely attractive and innovative design using dual-tone technology. In addition to the secure issuance and encoding of the cards, they reflect a modern look and feel that supports the image of the company.
In addition to the corporate badges, and to ensure very high security at the construction site of Northvolt’s first gigafactory, Nexus, together with our partner Sistec, have created a customized service center to be able to issue ID06 express cards on the spot. No one can enter the construction site without a valid ID06 card.
Northvolt’s first gigafactory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå, Sweden will be over 100,000 sqm (pictured above). When the facility is completed, it will be one of Europe's largest battery factories. The factory will commence production later this year and in the long term, more than 2,500 people are expected to work there.
Nexus is proud to be a partner of Northvolt in the transition to a decarbonized future.
