Magnus Malmström appointed new CEO of Nexus

The board of the identity and security company Nexus Group has appointed Magnus Malmström as new CEO from 1st of November, 2018. He will move from his current role as VP Product & Delivery to replace Lars Pettersson, who will take the role as chairman of the Nexus Group board.

“Nexus is now at a point where an increased focus on selected market segments requires a CEO with deep technical knowledge of identity and security. Magnus Malmström has long and solid international industry experience. In his former role he has paved the way for Nexus’s future product portfolio, which makes him an excellent choice”, says Michael Olsson, current chairman of the Nexus Group board.

“Digitalization also affects Nexus – we need to work more decentralized to get even closer to our customers with our technology and knowledge. I see great opportunities for us as Nexus´s solutions are becoming increasingly relevant every day around the world. I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead Nexus’s competent employees and to support our customers in their progress to secure digitalization”, says Magnus Malmström.

Digitalization and the need for high security can be overwhelming for any organization, the more so because both demand rapid change. Digitalization is just in its infancy and will last for many years to come, driving shifts in technology and business models. The demand for Nexus identity and security solutions has increased sharply, and the company’s technology has demonstrated in 2018 its high potential in the automotive industry for secure communication between vehicles, and between vehicles and charging stations.

Over the last three years Nexus has moved forward with extensive product development to meet the next generation of customer requirements. The company has fully integrated products from a number of acquisitions to the Nexus “Smart ID” platform. Nexus secure identities based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies are the most powerful and effective in the market to enhance trust and the security of communication between people, things and systems.

“In the last three years Lars Pettersson has transformed the company into a well-structured and focused organization with a clear strategy. To secure the continuation of this winning strategy, Lars has been offered the post as acting chairman of the Nexus Group”, says Michael Olsson.

“It is perfectly fitting that after more than three years of intensive change management, I hand over the CEO role to Magnus Malmström. Magnus’s drive and long experience from the identity and security industry will further develop Nexus and retain our innovation focus. I am very pleased to be able to continue working with Magnus and his management team in my new role”, says Lars Pettersson.
